A Natural Gas Thanksgiving Reminder

Thanksgiving is a time to spend with family and friends celebrating the many reasons we have to be thankful as Americans, but not everyone will be able to be home for the holidays, including many in the oil and natural gas industry and our military.

As we sit down today with family and friends to great food, wonderful conversations and maybe some parades and football, we need to take a moment to remember the many men and women who will not be able to do so.  While there are many industries whose workers will be present tomorrow just like any other day–retail, doctors, nurses, police officers, corrections officers, firefighters, and so on–we’d like to take a moment to thank two specific groups for the sacrifices they make every day for our freedoms and comforts: oil and natural gas workers and our military.

The first are the many men and women of the oil and natural gas industry.  Many of these hardworking Americans will be away from their families over the Thanksgiving holiday as they continue to develop the natural gas and oil used throughout our society.  Their sacrifice will provide the gas to cook that delicious food in many households, the lights to see by, the computers where we’ll all post our Thanksgiving well wishes to friends and family, the television sets we’ll watch the annual Macy’s Day Parade and football games on, the cameras and cell phones we’ll use to capture those priceless family moments or call loved ones who can’t be near, the plastic containers to store all those yummy leftovers in, and so much more.

Today, we’d like to take a moment to thank you and your family for your sacrifice to ensure Americans everywhere have a wonderful holiday with all of the comforts we have available to us.

Today, and everyday, we should take time to reflect on and show gratitude to the many men and women who make up the branches of our military and who sacrifice daily to ensure our freedoms.  Not all of us have the opportunity to show our gratitude in such a way as the woman in the above story, but we need to take time to remember it is because of them we have the freedom of speech to debate back and forth on the topic of natural gas, to feel safe in a warm home with our families and friends, and to enjoy all of the other aspects of life as an American.

Many of these men and women will not be home for Thanksgiving and some will never celebrate another.  We hope in years to come as we continue to work towards our energy independence more of these brave individuals will be home to celebrate and give thanks.

Today, we’d like to take a moment to thank all of our service personnel and their families for the sacrifice they make to ensure we as Americans have so much to be thankful for during this holiday.

From everyone on the EID Marcellus team we wish all of you a safe and happy Thanksgiving filled with the love of family and friends!
