Asthma Rates in Fracking and Non-Fracking States
Jan. 30, 2017

Researchers with ties to anti-fracking groups have been putting out a number of reports that attempt to link fracking to asthma. But time and time again, their studies have been debunked by credible health and research institutions.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) latest asthma data show that states that have banned fracking – New York and Vermont – actually have far higher asthma rates than four of the top oil producing states in country: Texas, California, Alaska, and North Dakota.
In fact, Texas — which activist groups like Earthworks claim is ground zero for asthma issues related to fracking — has the lowest asthma rates in the country. Check out EID’s new infographic to learn more.

These rates are ALL far lower than nine counties in the study area with no shale production AT ALL, all of which are above 11.2 per 10,000.

Posted at 7:27 am, February 08, 2017People with asthma don’t always end up in the hospital. Hospital records don’t prove anything. I have asthma and it has never landed me in the hospital. So am I not counted?
