Chesapeake Energy and the Entrepreneurial Spirit
Thursday evening, Chesapeake Energy demonstrated its continued commitment to the local economy by sponsoring the Great Valley Technology Alliance’s (GVTA) annual business plan competition. The competition, now in its 10th year, aims to spur the development of the entrepreneurial spirit among college students from 14 of the region’s colleges and universities. Enterprising young people from our region get an opportunity to build on their ideas from the ground up and develop skills in business planning.
Our own Bill desRosiers won the collegiate award last year and was an honored guest this year. Brian Grove, Senior Director of Corporate Development for Chesapeake Energy, was in attendance to speak on behalf of the company’s own entrepreneurial spirit and to present the award for this year’s non-collegiate first place winner.
His remarks are self-explanatory but demonstrate, yet again, the powerful contribution natural gas development makes to the improvement of our quality of life in this region – offering a bright future for our young people and creating opportunity. This is the way to keep the kids here!
