Statement from Rock Zierman, CEO of the California Independent Petroleum Association, on the Administration’s directive to the Department of the Interior to study offshore energy resources:

“Studying offshore energy development will give policymakers and producers stronger data about the vast potential of domestic resources available in California. It’s possible that these resources could be developed with existing infrastructure or from onshore facilities without the need for any new offshore platforms.  That has the added benefit of decreasing our reliance on imported foreign oil which is produced without the same strict environmental protections that we have in California.”
