Natural Gas – Getting Better All the Time
Representatives of the Northern Wayne Property Owners Association (NWPOA) and EID Marcellus appeared before about 50 members of the Sullivan County Tea Party in Liberty, New York on Thursday, May 5 to lay out the challenges and extol the benefits of natural gas development for the region.
Mike Uretsky, the retired New York University staff member who previously authored a superb op-ed in the Allentown Morning Call on the subject of natural gas regulation, carefully articulated the way technology is racing ahead of regulation and steadily reducing the environmental impacts of natural gas drilling. He explained how closed loop systems, larger drilling units, new hydraulic fracturing techniques and assorted other new technologies are soling issues faster than regulators can keep up with them:
Following Mike’s excellent and well received presentation, I offered an overview of some of the most important reasons for developing our natural gas in this region, noting there was nothing that came close in terms of preserving so much open space so cost-effectively while improving the economic livelihoods of residents:
