Ready, Aim, Fire in Support of Natural Gas

Cabot Oil and Gas hosted a clay shooting fundraiser this past week to benefit local charities. Participants represented a wide range of companies from many different sectors of the natural gas industry and the community.

People from across the Marcellus Shale region gathered on Friday at Rock Mountain Sporting Clays in Meshoppen, PA to compete in a sporting clay competition and help raise money for the Make A Wish Foundation and the True Friends Animal Welfare Center in Montrose, PA.  During the break between flights we had the chance to talk to a variety of people participating in the tournament.  Each person we spoke to told us they were out having a great time supporting a wonderful cause.  Giving back to the community is very important to the natural gas industry as a whole, and fun events such as this tournament really help to bring people out to involve the whole community in the endeavor.

We spoke with Bill desRosiers from Cabot Oil and Gas and he told us a little about the fundraiser.  DesRosiers was in charge of organizing the event and making sure it went smoothly.  He told us because of the success of last year’s event, this year they had two different flights in the tournament, a morning competition and an afternoon competition.  He estimated over 200 people participated in the tournament. Great job, Bill, on another successful event!

Stephanie Paluda, Pennsylvania Independent Oil and Gas Association (PIOGA), was also in attendance.  Her team participated in the afternoon session of the contest, and Paluda won overall for female participants.  PIOGA came to show support and help the cause because there are a lot of member companies in the Susquehanna region.

We spoke next with Curt Coccodrilli.  Coccodrilli is with the Northern Wayne Property Owners Association (NWPOA) and is a landowner.  He came to support responsible natural gas development and give back to a community he has been a part of most of his life.  The NWPOA works tirelessly supporting natural gas development in Wayne County and the Delaware River Basin, and hope to have the same experiences as Susquehanna County in the near future.

Finally, we spoke with John Augustine of the Marcellus Shale Coalition.  Cabot is a strong member in the MSC Northeast region. The MSC was founded in 2008 and works with different legs of the natural gas industry across the country.  Their goals are to provide in-depth information about natural gas to everyone interested. John participated in both flights of the competition.

The day was a huge success.  Everyone enjoyed themselves and had a great time working with a goal in mind, to support charity.  Cabot raised over $10,000  for these two causes and plans to continue helping the community through donations and other events in the future. If you are interested in participating in future fundraisers hosted by Cabot, keep an eye out on their blog, wellsaidcabot.com.
