Sometimes the other side in the natural gas debate makes the best case for our side. If you are looking for an example, check out our Sautnergate story from last summer.  There is a new example from northeast PA’s recent “celebrity” visit.  Local activist Vera Scroggins (who always asks for respectful debate) shows us, in this latest episode, exactly what she means by that respect. 

Readers of this blog are very familiar with the name Vera Scroggins, a/k/a Vera Duerga, who has appeared in several stories and frequently comments on our posts.  Indeed, she’s one of our favorite commenters, someone we can actually converse with (most of the time).  She also gives tours of the Dimock area, lots of tours, in fact.  Last week she held a tour with Yoko Ono (net worth: $500 million), Sean Lennon (net worth: $200 million) and Susan Sarandon (net worth: $50 million), all the while yelling about the tyranny of the 1% over the rural poor.  Only in America!

This was followed by Vera (pictured to left) posting a video of herself confronting Phelim McAleer, producer of FrackNation, as he confronted the top tier of the real 1% to ask them why they seem to have rejected the EPA’s conclusion that Dimock’s water is safe.  Unbelievably, it all took place at a junkyard where any reasonable person might look for causes other than natural gas development for water issues, like fluids leaking from abandoned cars into a nearby stream, for instance. But, once again, that  seemed to be ignored by the assembled luminaries who came to northeast Pennsylvania to send a political message.

Why would Vera post this video? She might think it adds to the moment. If that’s the case, it proves, yet again, there is nothing so illogical or strange as an anti-gas activist on a crusade. Regardless of why it is posted, the message it sends is rather clear. Facts, circumstances, contradictions and reason drift away into the air like embers from the junkyard burn barrel if they don’t fit the activist narrative.  Here’s Vera speaking for herself, although we’ve added a counter so you can keep track of all the nice things Vera had to say:

We all have our particular viewpoints and beliefs; nothing can really change another’s view. We can listen respectively to one another and then follow our “Truth” and stand for what we believe. There’s always at least two sides to any issue. this is Life.
