WATCH: Maryland Fracking Opponents Debunked By President Obama and Prominent Democrats

Maryland has an incredible opportunity to join the many other states producing domestic, clean burning natural gas through the process of hydraulic fracturing.

As EID’s new video shows, there has been a lot of misinformation perpetrated in the Maryland General Assembly.  But whether it’s to do with water impacts, economic effects, or climate change, on every point opponents of hydraulic fracturing have been debunked by President Obama and other prominent Democrats.

Most notably, former Governor Martin O’Malley (D) – a staunch environmentalist – announced before leaving office that Maryland is “ready” to move forward with fracking and that he was “committed to ensuring that Marylanders have access to the economic opportunities associated with fracking.”

This announcement came after his administration released the results of a three year study, which found the possibility of water contamination from fracking is highly unlikely and “the risks of Marcellus Shale development can be managed” under Maryland’s strong regulations.
