From fertilizer to plastic, shale gas development continues to fuel American manufacturing and create family sustaining jobs. As EID has noted many times, the price of natural gas remains low because of prolific shale plays being developed across the country.  That, in turn, is fueling...

A new report from the American Chemistry Council (ACC), released this week, highlights how the abundance of affordable natural gas and natural gas liquids from shale will particularly benefit U.S. plastics manufacturing. According to the report, “The Rising Competitive Advantage of U.S. Plastics,” an additional...

Yesterday, President Obama traveled to the Marcellus Shale region and spoke at the U.S. Steel Irvin Plant in West Mifflin, just outside of Pittsburgh.  The president touted the resurgence of manufacturing jobs in the area, which has been fueled by abundant natural gas production.  Mario...

I also believe that our gas abundance not only provides employment and lowers domestic energy costs, but it provides the opportunity to export natural gas to other nation states. The LNG Export Working Group has been focused on addressing the interests and development of domestic LNG exporting. Despite party affiliations, many of my Congressional colleagues have gathered regularly to work toward a common goal: allowing United States LNG manufacturers the free-market capabilities to export and sell their product. Expanding LNG exports makes too much sense to continue to delay.

The Washington Post recently highlighted a growing trend that holds great economic promise for the United States. Specifically, the Post noted that European industry is moving to the United States to take advantage of lower energy costs, specifically clean-burning natural gas. Of course, this is just the latest in a series of economic good news attributable to the nation’s growth in oil and natural gas development from shale resources. Little wonder, then, why major U.S. investment banks are declaring that “energy is beginning to carry America.”

Those involved in the oil and gas industry have been touting America’s “manufacturing renaissance” thanks to affordable natural gas for the last couple years. Now, the theory is garnering broad support from business leaders and economists across the country. National Public Radio ran a story this week about the increase in manufacturing resulting from the incredible technology providing cheap domestic natural gas.

In his remarks the Governor highlighted that last year Ohio was 48th in the nation for job creation. This year it ranks 9th. Just a few breaths away from that comment, the Governor announced that Markwest is locating three facilities on Ohio. One of them just 20 miles down the road in Harrison County. These will require 700 construction jobs to complete and will offer many well-paying full-time jobs as well as $500 billion in investment to the region.
